Rype has refreshed its calculations comparing the carbon emissions of its typical remanufactured furniture with new.

The team examined a task chair, desk and meeting chair – Rype’s most popular products. All three showed greenhouse gas emissions savings of over 80% compared to new, consistent with previous calculations.

For each, the remanufactured item’s carbon footprint was calculated bottom up including all of the remanufacturing actions, and compared with an equivalent new item whose emissions were calculated by the original manufacturer using an externally approved process.

The calculations, with assumptions and sources, are available here.
